Snow Areas: Canada - Banff Sunshine, The Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt Norquay

What can we say about the Big 3? Picturesque, stunning, world-class, the heart of the Canadian rockies is just awesome and charming! Only under 2 hours from the Calgary International Airport, Banff and Lake Louise is home to 3 of Canada’s (and the world’s) most popular snow areas and mountain resorts – Banff Sunshine, The Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt Norquay.

If you’re a fan of exceptional natural beauty, wildlife, wilderness and a plethora of land-forms then you will most likely fall in love with the Big 3. Their official website pretty much summarises the place “Three iconic Canadian Rockies mountains that share every kind of run imaginable, and some that simply aren’t. Two legendary, historic ski towns offering everything from posh and pampered to retro and rustic. All surrounded by a vast, pristine and protected wilderness park so breathtaking that it’s part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.” Sounds good to you? It definitely is to us.

Ski, board and discover the different trails, castles and châteaux on the storied peaks of Banff National Park. You’ll also enjoy the chutes, bowls and long, rolling runs that will elevate skiing and riding to become a very memorable snow holiday. When you’re in Lake Louise, make sure you take a photo of the stunning Victoria Glacier. Nature at its finest.

Since we’re all about snow here, Sunshine Village receives the most snow of the Banff resorts with around 30feet (9 meters / 360 inches) of snow annually! We just love Banff Sunshine’s light, dry pow. Lake Louise receives an average of 15feet (4.5m), while Mount Norquay gets 10feet (3m).
